Welcome to living in the Jungle

It has been almost one week since we first arrived to Belize! I must say Praise God for how well our children have adjusted to living in Belize and we thank God alone for all that He has blessed us with.

J.T. and Isabelle LOVE living in the jungle!  They are adjusting well to their new surroundings and go exploring everyday. They have caught a frog and other insects and J.T. even is sucking ticks up with the vacuum (GROSS....I know).  School started on Monday and the kids were excited to go to class and meet new friends.  They have also been quite the little helpers with cleaning around the house and cooking.

We have had a lot of rain these last few days, so it has been very muddy. The rain also makes it VERY hard to tackle the laundry pile that has been growing since we arrived last week. I thought I would start by hanging more line...WRONG!  You forget how something that sounds so simple can turn into such a chore.  As I was trying to hang the line in the wet, mushy grass, I started to feel my feet tingling with small stings everywhere.  I looked down to find about 10 ants biting me.....and these ants bite! I found myself getting upset at the whole situation but had to laugh, remembering hanging clothes when we first lived in Belize and always slapping my legs because of the ants.  Finally I started to wash the laundry and got about 6 loads wash and hung.....BUT about noon it started to rain. AGAIN!  I had to run up to the house pull down about ALL of the  clothes from the line (that were NOT dry) and had to bring them into the house.  Needless to say it was a long day of laundry! As I was starting to get frustrated God reminded me of what I had read in my devotion today.....TO BE CONTENT!  I need to be content every second, every hour, and everyday!  I need to embrace the privileges that God has blessed us with.  He has given us so much to be grateful for, and for that I am truly thankful.

"True godliness with contentment is itself great wealth." 1 Timothy 6:6

  2. Oh Liz, I remember those rainy laundry days so well. It is amazing to hear you writing about them. You are being faithful and it is a blessing to read about! Its so different there, its ok if things aren't as "perfect" as here in the states, thats whats so great about it down there. I am so excited about this adventure for you, Trav and the kids. The kids look like they are truly in heaven playing with the mud and bugs. I will be a faithful follower of your blog as I am so interested in how it is having your little ones down there with you. Take Care
